Vacuum!

I need a new vacuum.

The Dirt Devil my parents gave me in college (and probably bought for 50 bucks) is just not cutting it anymore. Especially since I'm shedding ridiculous amounts of hair (apparently after pregnancy you shed a lot; I've had two months of crazy bad shedding... good thing I have mounds of hair or I'd be bald by now). I'm too proud to post a photo of my carpet. Besides, who wants to see a photo of dirty carpet?

So if you have a vacuum that you love, let me know about it. I'd rather buy a good one I know works versus just buying one on sale that I know nothing about.

It's Greg's birthday next week, maybe I can surprise him with a vacuum.

Okay, I would never do that. I'm not that lame.

Ha ha! I use a shop-vac on my floors... not suggesting it for you, but just thought I would let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers often. Love, Ashley

I bought a Dyson about 5 months ago and I LOVE it!! They are expensive, but you can buy refurbished ones and get a pretty good deal. I have the DC28 animal. It's large and in charge :) We have a dog that sheds a lot, so you I am sure could get a different model that would still work fantastic. There are no filters to buy EVER, you just wash the filters every three months. And the tools it comes with actually work, my other vacuum did not have much suction with the hand tools. I have 2 other friends that have the Dyson Animal ball one and they also love theirs. Hope this helps...happy vacuum hunting!

I've been shedding like crazy since Evan was born too. Must be the surge and decline of hormones... odd.

Our Dyson Animal is on it's last leg after only 3 1/2 years. It makes me mad since it's so expensive.

I also shed like crazy. I have thin, fine hair so I was worried I'd end up with a comb-over when it was all said and done. I still have little hairs all over my head from the hair growing back in. When it's super humid out, it stands up like a mini fro. I'm so hot.

Check Lowe's for brands that are really good. You may be able to find one cheaper online or something, but the guy we spoke to there seemed to know a lot about them. We may be in the market for a new vacuum soon ourselves. Let me know what you find out!

I bought a dyson the purple one but not the ball. It is awesome. We have a cat and it picks up all the hair. I couldn't believe what the dyson picked up after I vacuumed with my old vacuum. Hope this helps. -Nichole

Heather,

Our vacuum is nothing special to brag about although it works pretty good but I am there with you on the shedding. It is ricidulous! And I'm like you, thank goodness I have plenty of it or I would be bald! Although I am getting it cut again today!!

Rainbows are great...and you can also get refurbished ones online. Jason's mom got us one a couple of years ago & I really like it!

I love to vacuum. Love it. Have always loved it. Love the lines and love the clean afterward. LOVE vacuums and have had MANY.

Currently, the one that is used most in the house is our Dyson--the Animal with the Ball. Pretty expensive (MIL bought it after Matthew died, feeling like she couldn't do much but she knew how much floor cleaning equipment makes me happy) and ok, I guess. Pretty easy to use, fairly lightweight and my husband thinks it's the best thing ever. It's pretty good, in my opinion.

My favorite, favorite, favorite vacuum, though is the Hoover Windtunnel Self-propelled with the dirtfinder (not the bagless one). I still use it. It still does amazing, amazing work. It's so easy to use (the self-propelled is fabulous) and I like having a bag because dumping the Dyson container without a bag makes me cough and sneeze every time.

If I was buying another vacuum, it would be the Hoover, hands-down. The Dyson is nice, admittedly, but I love the Hoover just a bit more and it's WAY less money!

And I'd totally buy a vacuum for a gift--a win-win, right?
