Maelee Linn Kasowski passed away Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010.
Maelee Linn Kasowski was born still Tuesday, April 6, 2010 around 8 p.m.
She weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 18.5 inches long.
"Mae" comes from Heather's grandmother's middle name. The "lee" is added to distinguish her from her cousin Marian whose Chinese name "May Lynn." Her middle name, "Linn" is the same as her mother's, grandmother's and aunt's. We also like the sound of "Maelee Kasowski" together. For more on her name, read this post or for more on her story read this page.
Heather is doing great. She was absolutely amazing through the entire labor. There was absolutely no motivation to deliver, but she still struggled through with a heavy heart and sadness. The drugs have masked a lot of her emotional pain, but I have shed enough tears for the both of us.
My parents made it to the hospital during the delivery but waited until an appropriate time to visit our room. The nurses cleaned Maelee up so we could spend some time with her. The photographer took some pictures which we will treasure always.
We got some good sleep last night. We finally got situated in our room at 1 a.m. We woke up around 6 a.m., but still feeling somewhat refreshed. Repressing the grief is really the only way to get sleep.
Heather's parents are on their way to the hospital now. They got in late last night. I will keep you all posted. Thank you for thinking and praying for us during this time.

What a beautiful name. I look forward to meeting her on the other side. We love y'all.
I am here in my room at school this morning with tears pouring down and praying for you. Last night the scripture just came to me as I was walking on the tredmill...I don't know where it even is, but something like "when you have been tried by fire, you shall come forth as pure gold" I will look it up tonight. Oh, how our hearts ache for you, and even though you may not be able to even imagine now how God could use this tragedy, we must rest in the knowledge that HE loves you and will see you through this and you will in time come forth as PURE GOLD. We love you and are praying for you.

In times like this, it seems like words fall short as we try to communicate the depth of love we have for you and the ways our heart grieve for you. We are praying that our Heavenly Father will sustain you and be your refuge as you wait in anticipation for the day that you are reunited with your daughter in Heaven.

Thanks for the updates, we will continue to pray.
Greg and Heather,
I cried myself to sleep last night thinking of you three and what you have had to go through over these past couple of days. When/if you find it appropriate, please put some pictures up of Maelee Linn. I would love to see her beautiful face. What a special name. I am sure her grandmother, great grandmother, and great aunt are honored by it and love it.
Praying,

Greg and Heather -
We are praying for you now and will continue in the days and weeks ahead. We love you so much and sorrow with you in this heartbreak. As I was praying for you this morning "sustain" was the only word that came to mind... And I am confident that the Lord will do just that - sustain you.
Love and prayers - Wes and Rebekah

Greg and Heather,
We had everyone over today. There was about 20 or so kids here today.(Spring break) We all gathered in the backyard prayed and signed balloons that we sent up to heaven to Maelee Linn Kasowski. Even though I only got to touch your belly she was precious to us all. She will be greatly missed and always loved. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I wanted to let you know that we are praying for you - for courage, the space you need to grieve, and the nearness of the Lord's presence.
Dear Ones, I love her name, Maelee Lin is poetry. My heart still aches so much for you both. Tears spring easily as I pray for you in the night when all is quiet. I hope you realize how much you are loved. Words. How futile they can be. But His Word reassures us that little Maelee will be there waiting for us all. Hugs and continued prayers darling ones and so much love, Maxine

I am truly sorry that this has happened to you both. My heart truly aches for you both. I am just numb for you.
However, I can already see that this situation that you both have endured is a true witness to people about how God's grace gets us through some of the toughest uncomprehendable painful situations.
I pray God will bless you and your husband with many children granted I understand not one child can ever replace your precious daughter who now being held in the arms of Jesus.
May I share that I am not able to have children due to ovarian cancer back in 1990 at age 14. I am a walking miracle. I am now 34yrs old. God knew my hearts desire was to be a mommy BUT i had no eggs. I would look up to the sky with tears asking God for a baby some days. God provided us a baby at 17days old through adoption. Angela is now 5yrs old. Prior to Angela we were going to get another baby but that fell through. That was extremely painful but nothing compared to what you both have endured.
God knows your desire to be a mommy and he will grant it, I am sure of that. God truly loves you both so much and your precious daugther that he is holding.
Peace to you
